🌍 Last Tuesday we attended the Steering Committee and work package 7 and 8 meetings of the Life eCOadapt50 project at the Barcelona Provincial Council headquarters. It was an intense and enriching day of debate on the state of the project and how to better integrate climate change adaptation into public policies and its financing. Despite the inherent complexity of a project of this scale, the conclusion of the meeting is very positive: we have a clear roadmap and everything needed for the good progress of the initiative and to provide a strategic boost to climate change adaptation in our territories.

💧 Last Monday we met with the scientific committee of ACATCOR at the University of Barcelona to present our actions for forecasting future irrigation demand, both climatically and seasonally, within the framework of the Life Pyrenees4Clima project. The ACATCOR experts gave us very valuable feedback, emphasizing the need to ensure that our climate scenarios of irrigation demand take into account the viability of crops in the future climate. All this will help make our work much more useful for hydrological and agricultural planning in Pyrenean basins such as the Ebro.

🌍 This week I attended the ESA DTE Components Conference at ESRIN. I return with the conviction that the main bottleneck we face today is bringing science to society, that is, ensuring that our data and algorithms are capable of aiding decision-making. In this sense, the work of generating digital twins seems very appropriate, but I am also clear that we must intensify contacts with potential users (administrations, companies, citizens, etc.) and carefully consider the appropriate scale for working with these twins (which will differ for each one): local, regional, national, European, or global. We are working in this direction in the DTE Hydrology Next, Life eCOadapt50 and Life Pyrenees4Clima projects. We are in the midst of a learning process. I believe there are many questions to answer in this regard. We have a long way to go. In any case, it is interesting to see the community's progress.
