🌍 Returning from the ESA DTE Components Conference at ESRIN

05/02/2026

This week I attended the ESA DTE Components Conference at ESRIN. I return with the conviction that the main bottleneck we face today is bringing science to society, that is, ensuring that our data and algorithms are capable of aiding decision-making. In this sense, the work of generating digital twins seems very appropriate, but I am also clear that we must intensify contacts with potential users (administrations, companies, citizens, etc.) and carefully consider the appropriate scale for working with these twins (which will differ for each one): local, regional, national, European, or global. We are working in this direction in the DTE Hydrology Next, Life eCOadapt50 and Life Pyrenees4Clima projects. We are in the midst of a learning process. I believe there are many questions to answer in this regard. We have a long way to go. In any case, it is interesting to see the community's progress.
